Have you ever wondered how some people build massive followings on LinkedIn without being “growth hackers” or riding a viral wave?
I’m here to pull back the curtain and show you the real journey.
After 5.5 years of showing up consistently, engaging intentionally, and focusing on genuine value, I’ve grown my LinkedIn following to 70,000—and it’s still growing. Not from a “hack.” Not from paid boosts. Just from showing up and putting in the work.
In this blog, I’ll break down 11 strategies that helped me build my audience one connection at a time.
It’s easy to get hooked on metrics. That little number next to your name? It’s addictive.
But here’s the reality: obsessing over followers often leads to chasing the wrong metrics. You end up posting for the algorithm—not your audience.
Instead, focus on creating content that solves a problem, sparks a thought, or provides clarity. Think about the person on the other side of the screen. What do they actually care about?
The growth comes when you focus less on quantity and more on quality.
Posting regularly isn’t about spamming people’s feeds. It’s about showing up consistently to offer something valuable.
But don’t just post the same kind of content. Rotate your formats:
Consistency doesn’t mean repetition. Stay fresh, stay relevant.
If you treat content like a chore, your audience will sense it.
But when you’re genuinely enjoying the process—sharing insights, experimenting with formats, engaging with others—it creates a kind of magnetic energy. You show up more fully, more authentically, and more frequently.
That enthusiasm draws people in. So find your voice, lean into what feels good, and make it part of your rhythm.
Want to be memorable? Pick a lane.
For me, it’s sales and conversion. That’s my world. And even when I post about something outside of that, I often link it back.
The more specific and consistent your message, the more clearly people understand what you stand for. When they think of your niche, your name comes to mind.
So be known for something. Then keep delivering on that reputation.
Don’t post to look smart. Post to be useful.
Every post should offer something—an insight, a strategy, a story, a shift in mindset. Don’t just share what you know; show your audience how it helps them.
This kind of value builds trust. And trust builds followers.
Some say to comment on 50 posts a day to grow. I say: comment on 5—but make them count.
Thoughtful, authentic comments are more likely to generate curiosity and click-throughs than generic “Love this!” fluff. When you add value in someone else’s comments, you gain visibility with their audience too.
Be a voice, not a volume.
People connect with people. Not logos, not titles—humans.
So don’t be afraid to talk about your story, your failures, your beliefs, and your motivations. Show us who you are, not just what you do.
These personal posts often outperform anything else. Why? Because connection drives conversation.
There’s no universal “best time to post,” but there is a best time for your audience.
Try different times and track your results. I’ve shifted my schedule multiple times to find new audiences and test engagement patterns. Right now, mid-day UK is working well for me. That may change.
The key: test intentionally and respond to the data.
Who you connect with matters.
Engage with people who are aligned with your content and values. Clean up your feed so it inspires and informs you. Block spammy accounts. Remove dead weight.
A curated network is a more responsive and rewarding one.
The first few months (even years) of posting can feel like shouting into the void.
But keep going.
Momentum builds quietly. Your 100th post is better than your 1st. Your audience becomes more attuned. Your style improves. Your reach expands.
Trust the compounding effect of consistent effort.
It’s not just about posting—it’s about participating.
Support others. Share their work. Tag them. Celebrate their wins. Engage thoughtfully.
The more you invest in others, the more invested they’ll be in you. This is how communities are built—and communities grow followings.
If you want a massive following overnight, you’re in the wrong place.
But if you want to build a loyal, engaged audience over time—an audience that values you and what you bring—then these strategies work.
They worked for me. They can work for you.
So stop watching your follower count. Start showing up. Serve your people. And let the numbers take care of themselves.
