Five years ago, I was a novice in the world of event hosting. Fast forward to today, I am privileged to be surrounded by experts who launch their rockets of experience at audiences. This week, we were in Amsterdam, doing what we do best. But what exactly does that entail? Let me take you on a journey through one of our events, and share with you the insights and lessons I've learned along the way.
Our events are not just about sharing knowledge and expertise. They are about engaging with our audience, raising money for charity, and fostering a sense of community. We take questions from our LinkedIn followers, lead discussions with the audience in the room, and share the event live with online attendees around the world. It's a whirlwind of activity, but it's also incredibly rewarding.
One of the most refreshing aspects of our events is the diversity of perspectives. We tackle a range of topics, and for each one, we have a panel of experts from different fields. For instance, in our recent event, we discussed how to warm your audience. We had copywriters, agency owners, visual designers, and video experts all giving their own angle of attack on the questions.
For me, that's how a panel should be: diverse in both experience AND perspective. It means more "here's how I see it" and less "my observations are identical." This diversity of experiences and perspectives is what makes our events so unique and valuable. It's not just about learning from the experts, but also about seeing things from different angles and challenging our own beliefs and assumptions.
And it's not just about the panelists. The audience also plays a crucial role in this. They bring their own experiences and perspectives to the table, contributing to the richness of the discussion. It's a two-way street, and that's what makes it so exciting and rewarding.
While I may have run many of these events now (this was #34), the real draw is the diversity of ideas and people. That's something we should actively seek out. Because without actively finding new people to engage and interact with, we stand still in an echo chamber.
Good outcomes come from this diversity. It fosters creativity, innovation, and growth. It challenges us to think differently and to see things from different perspectives. And it helps us to become better, more well-rounded individuals and professionals.
But our events are not just about learning and growing. They are also about giving back. We raise money for charity through our events, and the impact of this is truly heartwarming.
In our recent event in Amsterdam, we raised €333.57 for the charity Women Win. This money could fund a coach for many of the girls and women they support. It's a small contribution, but it can make a big difference in the lives of these girls and women.
And it's not just about the money. It's also about raising awareness for the cause and inspiring others to take action. It's about using our platform to make a positive impact in the world.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in our journey. Your support means the world to us, and it's what keeps us going. But I also want to thank you for being different. Your diversity is what makes our events so special. It grows us and shapes us, and you all contribute to that.
So, here's to many more events, many more diverse perspectives, and many more positive impacts. Let's continue to learn, grow, and make a difference together.
Hosting events has been a journey of growth and learning for me. It has taught me the value of diversity, the power of different perspectives, and the impact we can make when we come together. I am grateful for this journey, and I am excited for what the future holds.
So, my advice to you is this: Embrace diversity. Seek out different perspectives. Challenge your beliefs and assumptions. And use your platform to make a positive impact in the world. Because that's what truly matters.
And remember, we are all in this together. We are all part of this diverse, beautiful world. Let's celebrate that, and let's use it to make a difference.
And finally, keep learning and growing. Because that's what life is all about. It's about becoming the best version of ourselves, and helping others to do the same. So, let's keep pushing forward, let's keep challenging ourselves, and let's keep making a difference.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to many more events, many more diverse perspectives, and many more positive impacts. Together, we can make a difference.
