Reimagining LinkedIn: A Personal Approach to Professional Networking

Every day, we are bombarded with advice on how to use LinkedIn.

The gurus tell us to comment on posts, spend hours on the platform, and do cold outreach.

But what if there was a different way?

What if we could use LinkedIn in a way that aligns with our personal goals and values?

In this post, I want to share my unique approach to LinkedIn.

It's not about grinding comments or engineering virality.

It's about meaningful engagement, deep conversations, and focusing on what truly matters.

My LinkedIn Agenda: Quality Over Quantity

I don't comment on posts multiple times.

I don't spend most of my day on LinkedIn.

I don't grind comments for hours.

I don't ever do cold outreach.

Instead, I focus on quality interactions and meaningful engagement.

Engaging with Stimulating Content

I comment when a post stimulates me.

I engage with those who show interest in me.

This approach allows me to have deeper, more meaningful conversations.

It's not about the number of comments or likes, but the quality of the interactions.

By focusing on stimulating content, I am able to engage with posts that truly interest me.

This not only makes my LinkedIn experience more enjoyable, but it also allows me to connect with like-minded professionals.

Focusing on Deep Conversations

I aim to have five deep DM conversations a day.

These conversations allow me to build meaningful relationships with other professionals.

It's not about the number of connections, but the quality of the relationships.

By focusing on deep conversations, I am able to build a strong network of professionals who share my interests and values.

This not only enhances my LinkedIn experience, but it also opens up opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Choosing Customer Acquisition Over Community

I choose customer acquisition over community.

This means that I focus on building relationships with potential customers, rather than trying to build a large community.

This approach aligns with my business goals and allows me to use LinkedIn in a way that benefits my bottom line.

Why Followers Matter

But followers matter.

And community matters.

Impact on others matters too.

I don't ignore them.

They also feature in my day.

Just not as much.

Because how we 'use LinkedIn' should be unique to us.

"Online" doesn't have to be all day every day.

Community building can coexist with sales.

There's No "Good" or "Bad"

There's no "good" or "bad".

There's what works for you.

And I like that this is the case.

It's about finding a balance that works for you.

It's about using LinkedIn in a way that aligns with your personal goals and values.

So, how do you use LinkedIn?

Do you focus on quantity or quality?

Do you prioritize community building or customer acquisition?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Let's start a conversation.

Final Thoughts

LinkedIn is a powerful tool for professional networking.

But it's not about following the crowd or doing what the gurus tell you to do.

It's about finding your own path and using LinkedIn in a way that aligns with your personal goals and values.

So, make LinkedIn work for you.

Engage with stimulating content.

Have deep conversations.

Focus on customer acquisition.

And remember, there's no "good" or "bad".

There's what works for you.
